Know The History

Ricardo Flora is the latest protagonist in this family’s story. Trained as an architect, he restored the Pombaline building his great-grandfather had acquired in the early 1900s, preserving its soul—visible in the fully maintained façade, the staircase and handrail, the tilework, and the original Pombaline structure, with its exposed wooden “cage” framework featuring Saint Andrew’s cross bracing, now part of the ten tourist apartments into which it was converted.

More than 100 years after Ricardo’s great-grandfather left his mark on the city with the “Biagio Flora” toy shop in Baixa, the Flora Chiado Apartments were born.

From the need to support the apartments came the idea of creating a restaurant in the adjoining space—13. With a chef-led kitchen that celebrates Portuguese gastronomy, elevating it through high-quality local ingredients, it offers guests a truly memorable experience in a beautiful and charming setting.

This is the challenge of Isabella—nothing less than that.
